We invite you to participate in an exciting FREE self-defense workshop for Bryn Mawr alumnae! Topics include dealing with harassment and hate-based violence, recognizing the impact of our socialization, and self-calming strategies to reduce our own violent responses. Other skills include facing an armed assailant, releases from grabs and holds, and intervening safely in violence directed at others. Taught from a perspective that emphasizes choosing the most peaceful response to violence, this program is fun, empowering, effective, and community-building.
Learn and practice the core skill of assertiveness
Practice verbal assertiveness skills
Learn how body language and positioning can strengthen verbal boundary setting
Practice physical assertiveness, from creating more space to physically stopping an assailant with strong techniques
Learn and practice strikes and kicks to stop an attack

This workshop is open to individuals of all ability and fitness levels. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to fill out registration forms. Thousand Waves has a shoe-free training area. Please wear comfortable clothing in which you can move freely.
