Spring Board Meeting and Book Event with Bee Ridgway Sunday, March 2, 2014

The Bryn Mawr Club of Chicago welcomes Professor Bethany Schneider, aka Bee Ridgway, author of The River of No Return. As Aimee Levitt wrote in The Reader, “[It] is the kind of book that is meant to be read under the covers with a flashlight, or, in the pale grown-up substitution, staying up much later than you know is good for you just so you can find out how the current chapter ends, and then, before you know it, you’re sucked into the next chapter and you have to find out how that ends, too, and you don’t give a shit about how tired you’ll be in the morning.” Elizabeth Hand wrote in the Washington Post: “Ridgway spins an intricate narrative in elegant prose that combines the best of various genres — spy thriller, historical romance, science fiction, fantasy. Throughout, her juxtaposition of past and present is dazzling and often amusing. The Guild’s bureaucratic lingua franca is medieval Finnish, their Andean compound designed by Louis Kahn.”Image
